Using PLR Articles to Create Quality Content

When you own the Private Label Rights to an article, it means you can do pretty much anything you want with it -- and treat it as your own.

You can edit or change the title. You can edit or change the content. You can use it to create a new ebook or free report. You can use it as content on your website or blog You can use it as a follow-up in your autoresponder series. You can use it as... well, you get the idea.

And all the time, you can put your own name to it as if you'd written it yourself.

BUT...

Many people are hesitant about using articles with Private Label Rights (PLR) as content for two important reasons...

1) Depending on where you get them, PLR articles are often poorly written.

2) If other people are using the exact same content it may be penalised by the search engines -- and has virtually no chance of being included in any reputable article directories or content sites like HubPages, Squidoo etc. Likewise, publishing something under your own name that has already been published elsewhere is likely to have a negative affect on your credibility.

So, does that mean that you should just avoid using PLR articles altogether?

No it doesn't, and here's why...

Even though PLR articles are sometimes poorly written, they are almost always well RESEARCHED.

Basically, what's happening is, these articles have been written by non-native English speakers. That means that the language is sometimes a little clunky or stilted and sometimes contains basic grammatical errors.

But that doesn't mean that the fundamental points they're making aren't good ones.

In fact, the actual content of these articles generally tends to be very good.

So what does that mean for you?

Well, what it means is, if you can get your hands on articles related to your niche, you've instantly got a source of great information that you can use to create new articles of your own.

Now, some people will recommend using article spinning software that uses synonyms to replace one word with another thus making the content unique. ('Rich' becomes 'wealthy', 'house' becomes 'home' and so on...)

Others will do the same thing, but they'll do it themselves 'by hand' without using the software.

Either way, this is not a good approach to creating quality, unique content.

If you use the software, chances are you'll end up with a text that's even 'clunkier' than the original. It might (barely) be okay to dump on a 'throwaway' blog to act as search-engine fodder, but that's about it. Let's face it, you're unlikely to use it in a free promotional report or as content in your next HubPage.

Even if you're tweaking the content manually, paragraph by paragraph, you're never going to come up with something that truly feels like yours.

Here's what you should do instead...

Take the article and read it. Absorb the main points -- and make note of them. If you want, you can verify any points that you're not entirely sure about.

Then, once you've got the overall 'gist' of it, sit back and write the whole thing from start to finish in your own words.

By using this approach, you won't be held back by the structures of the original. Instead, you'll just be treating it as an idea generator -- and a research source -- for a brand new article of your own.

If you get your hands on ten or twenty articles in your niche, you can now use them to generate QUALITY content that you can use for...

- Your blog
- Your ezine
- Your autoresponder
- A free promotional report (PDF ebook)
- As promotional articles on the main article directories and content hubs
- Anything else you care to think of....

There are LOTS of sources out there. Run a search on Google and you'll find plenty.

Just get out there and find the PLR articles you need. Use them to generate ideas, absorb their central messages and then write them out yourself.
